Enabling ISA Server 2006 as a Web-Caching Server
2. Select the Content Download Jobs tab from the Central Details pane.
3. From the Tasks tab in the Tasks pane, click the link for Schedule a Content
Download Job. If prompted to enable the jobs, click Yes, Apply, and OK and then
run through steps 1??“3 again.
4. Enter a name for the content download job and click Next.
5. Define the download frequency for the job??”one time only, one scheduled time,
daily, or weekly??”and click Next to continue.
6. Enter the URL of the site from which to download, such as what is shown in Figure
8.9. Also, indicate how many links deep the site is to be scanned and whether to
follow outside links (not recommended). Click Next to continue.
7. Enable the individual cache content settings and TTL settings for the job and click
Next to continue.
8. Review the results of the wizard and click Finish.
Taking Advantage of HTTP Compression for Caching
A newer feature in ISA Server is the ability to compress HTTP traffic that flows through it
in a caching scenario. Compressing the traffic has significant advantages in speed and
overall bandwidth utilization.
