Enabling and Configuring VPN Client Access
By default, VPN access through ISA Server is not enabled, and it must be turned on before
VPN capabilities can be reviewed. Before it can be turned on, the address assignment
method must be established. Typically, this involves using a Dynamic Host Configuration
Protocol (DHCP) server in the network, but a static assignment method can also be used.
For in-depth information on this topic, see Chapter 9. If DHCP will be used, turning on
VPN functionality can be performed as follows:
1. Open the ISA Server Management Console (Start, All Programs, Microsoft ISA Server,
ISA Server Management).
2. In the console tree, select Define Address Assignments.
Prior to this step, the VPN node must be selected. In addition, the name of the detail
pane link that should be selected next is Configure Address Assignments.
3. Select Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), as shown in Figure 3.
